ABOUT MICHAEL HOWARD

If you are reading this, thank you for being here. Thank you for taking the time to look at my work and to read a little about me. I am a Northern California native that learned the appreciation of nature from the towering Redwoods that surrounded me. I found myself at Oregon State University (Go Beavs!) in 2011 where I later graduated in Human Services and immediately began working in a Corvallis homeless shelter. In 2016, I moved to Albany and began working as a Case Manager for the Linn-Benton Housing Authority where we assist the elderly, disabled, and families with their rent every month.

2016 is also when I decided to pick up a camera and go out in nature specifically to photograph it. I immediately became obsessed and have since spent as much time as possible out in the field. It has grown my appreciation and concern for the natural world and has greatly enhanced my life. I had always wanted to be “good” at something creative and felt like I needed that outlet. It took many years of trial and error and experimentation with different kinds of “art” for me to find photography and I couldn’t be happier. It’s something I also get to share with Kaitlin and Hudson (pictured left) which makes it even more special. There’s nothing I enjoy more than dragging those two out the door at 3am for a sunrise.

I think it’s safe to say I’ve got a lot of photographs left in me.

Again, thank you for being here.
